Previously I made a scarf and hat that were on the brighter side the Sunshine Scarf and Hat. The kind that when you wear everyone notices you. Now I decided to go the opposite way. It is still elegant and has class but does not scream “I am here”.

OK now, don’t judge me. I really wanted the scarf in these colors and weight 2 or 3. I looked in our local stores but they had none. So I decided to order online, not knowing that the store was located in Europe. Other times it might have been fine, but with Covid-19, things are no longer the same. That is why I think I haven't received the yarn although it has been a month.

Anyway, we always have to do what we have to do, right?. I was itching to start and I am sure you understand what I mean, you crocheters out there. So,I went through my stash and found this baby Bee Sweet delight yarn. It is soft and just the right weight. After a swatch I was like, ok, this is it.

Special Stitch

Puff Stitch-Yarn over and insert your hook into the specified stitch/space. Yarn over again and pull up a long loop. (Yarn over and insert your hook into the same stitch/space. Yarn over again and pull up a long loop) three more times. Yarn over and pull through all 9 loops on your hook. Ch 1 to close the Puff Stitch.

Notes

The scarf is made with Baby Bee Sweet Delight yarn 60% Acrylic/40% Polyamide, weight 3 category. It is made lengthwise. The Stitches used are chains and single crochet except for the lacy border, where I used puff stitches. The pattern itself is easy and quick to make. It’s a simple repeating pattern perfect for making while on the go. I have 2 different finishes for the border, one with fringes and the other with a crochet border. You can choose whichever border you prefer.

‍Ch 320 (Using Color A)

Row 1: Color A, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each st to end

Row 2: Color B, ch 1, 1 sc in first sc,* ch 5, sk 5 sc, 1 sc in next st, rep from * to end, turn

Row 3:, ch 1, 1 sc in first st *ch 5, sk 5, 1 sc in next sc, rep from * to end, turn

Row 4: Color A, ch 1, 1 sc in first sc, *ch 7, sk 5 ch, 1 sc in next sc, rep from * to end, turn

Row 5: ch 1, 1 sc in first sc,* ch 7, sk 7, 1 sc in next sc, rep from * to end, turn

Row 6: Color B ch 5 (count as 1 dc and 2 ch), *work a sc by inserting hook under ch -7 arch made at row 4**, ch 5, rep from * across, ending last rep at **, ch 2, 1 dc in last sc, turn

Row 37: ch 1, sc 1 in first sc, 5 sc in ch-5 sp, *sc in next sc, 5 sc in ch-5 sp* rep from * to end. Fasten off Color A and weave in ends.

Fringe Instructions

Take both yarns and wind them around a 4” cardboard or 4 fingers ( or roughly the length you want)

Cut at one end.

Fold 4 strands in half, 2 from each color and pull them through the scarf using a crochet hook. Pull through the loop to secure.

Do this evenly for the width of the scarf on both sides

Crochet Border Instructions (Only on the shorter sides-Width)‍

Row 1: With color B, connect the yarn on any of the corners with the right side facing. Ch 12, sk 3 rows, sc in the 4th row, rep to end of the width, turn
